How did Halloween begin?

Britain and France held a festival called Samhain on October 31^st. During the festival witches, ghosts and goblins ran about playing tricks. The people had bonfires to frighten away the spirits.

Later a festival called Faralia was to welcome the spirits. Then All Saints’ Day was celebrated on November 1^st. This was called Hallow or Holy Evening. Over the years it changed to Hallows Evening and today Halloween.
