Cricket Habitat
Materials Needed:

Two clear 2-liter soda bottles, duct tape, ice pick, sticks, leaves, rocks, small lid, sand, and a cricket.

Directions:

  • Punch air holes in the bottles with an ice pick ONLY on one side of the soda bottles at the top.
  • Cut off 2 inches from the mouth of each bottle with a box cutter, you will need adult help.
  • Also, with a box cutter, cut and remove the bottoms of the soda bottles. SAVE both bottoms as they will be put back using duct tape.
  • Attach the two bottles at the small mouths with duct tape. Lay the bottles length wise with the air holes on top.
  • On the bottom of one bottle, place sticks, leaves, sand and rocks.
  • In the other bottle, place a small lid with drinking water, some sand, and a few pieces of fruit.
  • Place the cricket in one of the bottles and reattach the bottoms of both bottles with duct tape to close up the bottles.
  • You now have a cricket habitat.
