(Partitioning)

• Take out your ten fingers.
• Say, “Show me ____ fingers (1-10).”
• Then ask, “Show me another way to make that number.”

Example:  4-2 fingers and 2 fingers          

4-1 finger and 3 fingers

*If children can come up with other ways to make that number keep them going!
