Measuring Volume
Directions:
1. Gather measuring spoons and cups. 2. Start with the cup and have your child measure 1⁄4 of a cup, 1/3 of a cup, 1⁄2 a cup, 2/3 of a cup, 3⁄4 of a cup, and 1 cup. Then ask them to figure out what 1⁄4 and 1⁄4 cup equals; 1⁄4, 1⁄4, and 1⁄4 cup equal. Be as creative as you can with your questions. Remember to cut measurements in half or double them. 3. Do the same thing with measuring spoons. Start with a teaspoon. Measure a 1⁄4, 1⁄2, and 1 teaspoon. Then ask what will a 1⁄2 and 1⁄2 teaspoon equal. Ask many measuring questions using a teaspoon. 4. Next, measure with a tablespoon. How many teaspoons are in a tablespoon? (The answer is 3.) Ask questions about measuring teaspoons and tablespoons. 5.Last of all go to the Loving2Learn cooking section and cook up some recipes!!! Double the recipes or cut them in half.
