Shadow Play

*Take your child outdoors and look for their shadows. Also, take other house hold objects with you (Example: cups, books, pail, doll etc...). You will also need sidewalk chalk.

*Allow your child time to explore their shadow. Get them to talk about their shadow.

*Ask your child questions about their shadow:

“Does your shadow move?” “How does your shadow move?” “Do I have a shadow?” “Do other objects have shadows?”

*Take out the objects you brought outside. Do they have shadows? Are they the same shadows?

*Trace the shadows of the objects on the sidewalk. Are they the same? Can the shadows change?
