Science Activity

Print off the Science Activity "Absorbtion-Evaporation" and get started!

 

Absorption-Evaporation

Materials:

shallow bowls
sponge
water 
milk
cotton
oil
napkins
paper towels
  

Directions:

1)Absorption-Fill the bowls with water, milk, and oil. Have your child dip the sponge, paper towel, cotton, and napkin into the liquids. Ask, “What happened when you dipped the sponge into the water?” Tell them this process is called absorption. We use it every day when we wipe liquids up.page1image2920

2)Evaporation- Put a bowl of water in the sun on a windowsill. Check the water every day. Ask your child, “What happened to the water?” Tell them this process is called evaporation. When it rains out evaporation also happens with the water going into the ground or the air.
