Comparing Lengths

Directions:

Cut up ribbon to various lengths.

Go over the concepts of, “the same length, shorter, and longer.”

Start by having your child pick two ribbons. Ask which ribbon is shorter and which ribbon is longer? Then ask your child to find two ribbons that are the same length.

Take turns picking a ribbon and ask the questions, “Find a ribbon that is shorter than the one I picked, longer, or the same length.”

Pick thing up around the house and have them compare the items. Which is longer, shorter, or are they the same length?
